The seat of government sits at the end of a room ten times as long as it is narrow. It's hard-wood floor is covered by plush burgundy carpet alit by pillars of sensual golden lamp-posts. The chair itself glows with its own dull light, which is fitting, as its back looks like some ancient smiling sun.
There are three ways out of The Room. The entrance, which exits out into a room containing the ladder that leads to the rest of The Shelves, is opposite the Eternal Book-Stop Chair. Behind the chair is the door to The Eternal Emperor's quarters. To the right of the chair is the administration suite.
The most important of everyone ever is Eternal Emperor W Hawk. W Hawk is a really nice guy who enjoys exercise and conversation. He's not been Eternal Emperor long, but he's sure to do a fine job. He likes animals and has a compassionate heart. He is excited to be the Eternal Emperor!
When they say W Hawk likes animals, they weren't kidding! He likes them so much that they built him a robot dog! Ledengleam is a real gem- in the case of his eyes, literally! He is always by W Hawk's side, protecting him from any would-be assasins.
When not being slavishly devoted to the Eternal Emperor, Ledengleam is generally eating. Boy can that dog eat! Day or night, it's eat eat eat with this one. Carrots, ham, you name it! Just don't name tomatos. That dog loves to eat!
W Hawk's dog Ledengleam is not the Eternal Emperor's only body guard. Beside the Eternal Book-Stop Chair stands the Guardian of the Throne. And that's about all it does, stand there. Presumably, if anyone were to attack The Eternal Emperor while he sat on the Eternal Book-Stop Chair, the Guardian of the Throne would protect him, but that remains to be seen.
The Guardian of the Throne has been standing next to The Eternal Book-Stop Chair since time immemorial, so who can say what its motives truly are, or if its anything more than just a statue.
Commandant Drumthumb is the liason between The Eternal Emperor and The Shelves Military Police. Appointed to the job by W Hawk when he took power, Drumthumb is new to the TSMP. He's learning the ropes, however, and his authoritative, yet easy-going personality make him perfect for the job.
As liason, his time is divided between his TSMP offices and the administrative suite where he inhabits the security room. When not in an office, Commandant Drumthumb will indulge W Hawk in some tandem exercise routines.
Doctor Chainz is W Hawk's taciturn advisor. He maybe stern, but he is pragmatic and wise. We could all benefit from such a wise councillor, and we do! By advising W Hawk, he helps all shelf-dwellers live a fuller, happier life.
Doctor Chainz is second only to Ledengleam in the amount of one on one time he spends with the Eternal Emperor. Oh, and he's a successful business man too! Have you heard of ChainzBrand products? Well, they're named after Doctor Chainz because he invented them all!
Boltor, as chief foreign envoy, is often times absent from The Shelves. When he is around, he's always busy doing like a thousand things at once: fixing things, consulting with Doctor Chainz, reporting to W Hawk- this guy's a certified Do-It-All!
As there are no known foreign governments to deal with, Boltor's been spending most of his time dealing with the inhabitants of The Tablelands.
A Gordon is called "The Rookie" for a very good reason- he's the newest member of the TSMP! So green is this "The Rookie;" he hasn't even been on assignment yet! Instead, he's spent the entirety of his time in Commandant Drumthumb's office training. He has been sort of "taken under his wing". So far is he "under his wing" that he often times visits the administration. He's even allowed entrance to the administrative suite on occasion! This is startling given that most of the public has yet to view W Hawk upon The Eternal Book-Stop Chair since his ascension to power.
